The soap series focuses on our confinement during 2020-22 through the image of an everyday bar of soap. We were repeatedly told to wash our hands. The small paintings result from hours of balancing water, brushes, tea, paints etc in various corners of our home. The ritual of washing and where we do it has a new relevance. I’ve battled with composition, light and colour on a very small scale, filling the hours of each day of lockdown and documenting a tense time through still life.
